The Victorian Period

Literature
During the Victorian Period, literature underwent a few changes. This was the time period in which the expansion of newspaper and press took place, helping to better inform the reading public about debates, politics, and social issues. This was also the time in which women were achieving equal rights in society, thus more female writers surfaced during this era than in prior eras. The literature was a way for these women to express their views and ideas.
The average Victorian novel consisted of realistic depictions of daily Victorian life and represented topics of the time.
